Tinder’s dating app lets users get a quick glimpse into a potential partner’s life before deciding whether they’re compatible with a swipe, but now even more information will be on the full screen. Following an update released today, preferred relationship types, person pronouns, and relationship goals will now appear front and center on user profiles as labels located directly below the person’s name and age.
Updated information has been added to improve clarity for all users. According to research conducted by Tinder, 73% of Tinder users say they are looking for someone on the app who knows what they want and who is clear about it. Tinder’s newfound focus on clarity about the type of relationship a person is looking for is meant to help streamline interactions and eliminate any matches that stem from mismatched expectations.

The information that comes with the update isn’t new to Tinder users, as many explicitly state their desired relationship types in their bios, though not all do. With official additions to each profile, users can now make faster decisions about who they want to connect with.
The options available to users are intended to provide a lot of detail in just a small space. For example, there are five different options for the Relationship Type setting to include relationships such as monogamy, polyamory, and more. Similarly, the pronoun options give users a choice of four pronouns to display on the profile from a list of 15 options. Users can set one of six relationship goals as a profile badge to best describe what they want to get out of Tinder with options like “long-term relationship,” “short-term open to long,” “still figuring it out,” and more.
Hopefully, the updated profile badges will help even more people connect with compatible users and find what they’re looking for much faster without having to go through the same conversations asking about intent and goals.
