The One That Got Away, one of Amazon Prime Video’s newest offerings, is an experimental dating series in which six single men and women are given a second chance at love. One by one, someone from each contestant’s past comes through the “portal”, giving them another chance to strike up a romantic relationship. Yurika Yoneda was Vince Xu’s first love and after more than ten years without contact, Vince met his first girlfriend on the set of The One That Got Away. One That Got Away: Are Yurika Yoneda and Vince Xu Still Together?
Vince’s relationship with his first love, Yurika Yoneda, lasted almost nine years.
Vince’s first blast from the past was his classmate Mahnoosh, the tide turning for him only when his high school sweetheart Yurika walked through the “portal”.
The last time they saw each other face to face was at their prom more than ten years ago, an experience they both remember riding in a limousine back then. So it made sense to put one back together for their first date. In TOTGA, the two not only discuss their future, but slow dance under a clear starry sky before sharing a kiss.
Although there were many women, including Mahnoosh, Isabel and Andrea, who went through the “portal”, Vince and Yurika’s conversations about a possible future family and their date in the balloon brought them closer than anyone.
At one point, Yurika even held back due to worries about whether she would be able to maintain a long-distance relationship, but Vince managed to talk her down. He revealed that coming out of it with Yuriko has given him back the hope that he had lost in dating and admitted that he is ready to commit again.
Proving his love to his high school sweetheart, Vince got down on one knee, declared his love and proposed to her to which Yurika happily replied “of course!”
