Who are the parents of Zoe Sozo’s Bethel?
Zoe Sozo Bethal was born to parents Glynis and Orlando Bethal. Her parents gained fame as serial plaintiffs and evangelists. They gained notoriety and local media attention through public antics as well as legal battles with the school board, other government agencies, and businesses.
His mother, a self-described “fire and brimstone preacher,” and her husband filed a 12-page lawsuit in Nashville District Court. She got more attention after moving to Nashville in 2010.
In September 2011, Glynis caused the Baldwin County school system to be shut down due to a threatening phone call. She is being held without bond at the Baldwin County Jail. The jail file lists various charges, including obstruction of government operations, harassment, disorderly conduct, third-degree felony, criminal coercion and escape charges.
Glynis sued an Ohio school district for $1 million in April 2011 over an incident involving a T-shirt Zoe was wearing that read “God hates prostitutes” and “repent or burn in hell.” By then, they had filed more than 50 similar federal lawsuits, mostly in the South.
In 2002, Zoe’s father Orlando was asked to sing at the funeral of Glysin’s uncle, who claimed to have received a revelation from God that led him to insult the mourners and say that the dead man was cursed. He told the 100 mourners that they were “whores” and “shit.”
Glynis and Orlando moved from Miami to rural Alabama in early 2000. They settled on an acre of land that Glynis had inherited from her grandfather. In March 2012, The Advocate listed the Bethel family as one of 11 “enemy” groups to watch out for.
The publication wrote: “Glynis Bethel and her husband Orlando Bethel travel the country with their three teenage daughters in their “Hell Van”, which is decorated with messages about “shit dealers” and the like. They helped Westboro Baptist Church at the protests and they love the homemade T-shirts.”
Zoe’s parents also wrote a book called Be a GOSPEL MODEL (Biblical Answers to S Questions**).

Zoe Sozo Bethal’s mom was Glynis Bethel. In November 2020, she posted a photo of her mom and captioned it, “10 years ago with my mom (Glynis) in my first photo shoot! She always went backstage with me to make sure my wardrobe was MODEST. I didn’t understand it at the time, but I appreciate that she cared about me.”
She likely died of breast cancer sometime after 2010. People who knew her described her as a “seamstress, pianist, singer, teacher, model, and world traveler.” Zoe took to her Facebook to pay tribute to her mom on Mother’s Day 2020.
