In a candid chat with YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia on his podcast The Ranveer Show, Zomat CEO Deepinder Goyal revealed the company’s recruitment procedure. Not only that, but he also shared his thoughts on what he thinks of Generation Z and gave an insight into Zomato’s competition with Swiggy.

What did Goyal say about Zomat’s recruitment process?

When Allahbadia asked Goyal how he hired people from, the CEO said, “The type of workforce we hire is very diverse. Ideally, we don’t hire job seekers, because the kind of people we need, they’re not job seekers.”

At this, Allahbadia asks Goyal if he believes in poaching candidates from other organizations. Goyal says simply: “Poaching or approaching. We look for good people. What does Goyal think about Generation Z?

Allahbadia asks what it’s like to work with Gen Z. Goyal replies, “Gen Z is much smarter than what we were at that age. The potential is huge, but they have less patience than we did at that age. And patience is a virtue that is needed at work.”

Goyal on competition with Swiggy:

“Swiggy has always been a problem for us. Swiggy suddenly raised a billion dollars, at that time we had nothing in the bank. We sold our business in the UAE and got $170 million from there. We slowly kept fighting and kept working hard. only so much money, we have to get here at a certain time. Gun to the head, solve it,” Goyal says in the podcast.
